Oenone

OENONE

One of the joys of digital art is that in the creation of one image one often finds another one inside it. My work process is actually an act of vandalism as it involves mashing up perfectly lovely digital scrap elements and papers until even their designer's no longer recognise them. This image grew out of and evolved alongside my latest William, John and Jane card. It draws no reference whatsoever from the Oenone of Greek mythology, but from a beautiful Julia Margaret Cameron Albumen print of the same name.

  4. Your art always makes me wish I had a gift for storytelling. Each piece feels like the illustration to a mythic, magical love story. The deep bottle green and sapphire hues are rich colors choices with the antique sepia tones. You have a style all yor own and it is incredible!

  6. Ha! Kimmie! You found me out! I'm trying to get it sorted. It's going to be my place for tea with you (and anyone else who cares to pop by) I think It will mainly be about slugs because that is my summer garden obsession...

  10. excellent... Julia Margaret Cameron... what a photographer. If I remember me history correctly she was the first woman to have a photo of hers on the cover of Life magazine, - a time when photgraphy was still a very male preserve...

might have to go check that and look at some of her work...

been too busy to post anything about Japan...

  12. Hello my friend! Oh, this is beautiful and piercing. Piercing comes to mind with such a delicate feather punching through glass - such a gorgeous dichotomy between delicacy and power, feminine and strong. You are so talented and your work is very deep and intellectual, meaningful, purposeful. I am working in a world that is a bit flatter up to now, a little more shallow and trite, and you achieve what I want to strive for. You are great inspiration.

Thank you so much for all of your support and friendship and caring thoughts lately. I am doing much better now that there is light peeking through the other end of the tunnel! And, I'm doing better because of wonderful beautiful people like you in my life! I'll be back soon!
